Report: Roma resist Wolfsburg bid for Tottenham target

As Roma Graffiti

Roma have reportedly turned down a sizeable bid from Wolfsburg for Tottenham linked striking star Mattia Destro.

Roma's resolve is being tested but the Eternal City side seem determined to keep hold of Italian international striker Mattia Destro.

Destro has been seen as a rising star for some time but last season saw the 23-year-old live up to expectations and score a goal every 95 minutes.

The talented goal getter was to suffer a disappointment when he was cut from Italy's World Cup squad, but he remains hot property.

Tottenham have been strongly linked with a move for Destro and may have already entered talks with the Serie A side, but German club Wolfsburg appear to have stepped in first.

Reports in Il Corriere della Sera state that Wolfsburg have seen a bid of more than £15 million rejected by Roma over the last couple of days.

It has been suggested that Roma's summer transfer activity has left them above budget and in need of a sale, but sporting director Walter Sabatini is said to be happier to sell midfielder Adem Ljajic than Destro.

If Tottenham are to lure Destro they may need to produce a mammoth bid and even then Roma might present a brick wall.

Should Tottenham bid big for Mattia Destro?
