We need to sell Leeds target, Bologna admit

Elland Road East Stand

Bologna sporting director Filippo Fusco has confirmed that the club are looking to get rid of Leeds linked striker Robert Acquafresca.

Leeds United's chances of signing experienced Serie A striker Robert Acquafresca have been given a boost by a statement from his club Bologna.

Emilia-Romagna side Bologna were relegated from Italy's top flight last season and are trying to rebuild for life in Serie B.

Bologna are set to complete the signing of marksman Daniele Cacia, who was also on Leeds United's shopping list, and that may push Acquafresca towards Elland Road.

According to reports in Italy, Leeds are eyeing Acquafresca, who has a solid track record in Italian football but has seen his career stall somewhat of late.

And Bologna have gone some way to confirming that they are ready to listen to offers for the ex-Inter man.

"We have to sign a striker because we are looking to build an immediately competitive squad to do well," Bologna sporting director Filippo Fusco said on Sky Sport Italia.

"Rolando Bianchi and Acquafresca have big salaries and if they don't leave it will be difficult to sign any other strikers."

Acquafresca is reportedly valued at around £1 million but his salary demands may be quite high and it remains to be seen whether he is open to relocating to England.
