VIDEO: Totti fires Roma past Real Madrid

Roma legend Francesco Totti scored the only goal as the Serie A side saw off Real Madrid 1-0 in their Guinness International Champions Cup match.

Roma secured their first win of their Guinness International Champions Cup campaign with a victory over Spanish giants Real Madrid in Dallas and it was evergreen star Francesco Totti who did the damage.

The only goal of the game came in the 58th minute when Totti ruthlessly converted a cross from Alessandro Florenzi having cleverly jumped over the ball in the build-up.

Real Madrid had looked the brighter side in the first half but they didn't make the most of their chances and fell to their second defeat of the competition, having been beaten on penalties by Inter in their opener.

There was some tension between the two teams as Roma midfielder Seydou Keita, who used to play for Barcelona, refused to shake Pepe's hand and seemed to throw a water bottle at the controversial defender.

Gareth Bale looked dangerous but he could only shoot wide when he had a good chance after 20 minutes and he later blasted over from the edge of the box.

Just before half-time, Roma defender Mehdi Benatia, who was close to joining Manchester City, showed why he is in high demand with a superb block to stop Pepe.

Roma goalkeeper Lukasz Skorupski impressed again and made a decent save from Lucas Vázquez.

The Italians went close to doubling their advantage through Adem Ljajic, Keita and Antonio Sanabria.

A number of fans invaded the pitch during the second half, possibly inspired by recent incidents of supporters getting selfies with players during games.
