All the latest Chelsea transfer news and rumours including Atletico Madrid moving on from Fernando Torres to Andre Schurrle.
Fernando Torres is here to stay at Stamford Bridge, providing competition for returning hero Didier Drogba and prolific penalty box predator Diego Costa and thus quashing any speculation linking the Spaniard with a return to Atletico Madrid.
However, the La Liga champions are desperate to reinforce.
The Vicente Calderon club have lost David Villa, Costa, Filipe Luis, Thibaut Courtois and Adrian all within the same transfer window but have, to date, bolstered Diego Simeone's match-day options by signing Antoine Griezmann and Mario Mandzukic.
Atletico have not completed their summer activity, though. And are reportedly ready to make an offer for Andre Schurrle. Yes, the same Schurrle who began to come of age last season and starred for Germany in the World Cup - even assisting Mario Goetze for the crucial winning goal in the final against Argentina.
On Torres, Mourinho said: "Three strikers are fundamental in a squad and we have three strikers - Fernando, Didier and Diego, so one of them is not [going] for sure."
While Chelsea have adopted an aggressive approach to the transfer market having secured deals for Costa, Luis, Francesc Fabregas and Drogba for a combined £74.8 million, Mourinho has managed to squeeze an extraordinary £141 million out of player sales due to the exits of David Luiz, Demba Ba, Romelu Lukaku, Juan Mata last January and Kevin de Bruyne.
The club's wage bill will also have been eased after Ashley Cole and Frank Lampard left the club.
On the market strategy, Mourinho said: “We are so happy with the squad we have. We feel that the correct squad is exactly this type of squad we have, with people like Didier and John Terry, but at the same time people like [Andreas] Christensen and [Nathan] Ake.
“We have the squad we want and, I repeat, the club was fantastic in the way they worked so hard and so fast to get Diego, Filipe and Fabregas.”
Elsewhere, Gael Kakuta joins Rayo Vallecano on loan. It is his sixth temporary spell away from Chelsea.
And finally, Fabregas busted out his dance moves as he sung the Macarena for his initiation song! Check it out…
