Lukaku to Everton! Could be one of the best business-deals this summer! #efc— Jan Aage Fjortoft (@JanAageFjortoft) July 30, 2014
European football pundit Jan Aage Fjortoft has suggested that both Chelsea and Everton have got good value out of the deal for Romelu Lukaku.
News broke yesterday that the Belgian striker was heading to the Toffees in a permanent deal worth £28 million following a successful loan spell last season.
On the surface, the fee would appear to be quite high and that’s where Chelsea must be praised for getting the best fee possible when Lukaku was linked with £15-17 million transfers earlier in the summer.
It’s a big investment for Everton, a club with traditionally not a great deal to spend, but Fjortoft seems to suggest they get value in the form of the player.
Lukaku, still only 21-years-old, is arguably the best under-21 striker in the world and a player who already has good Premier League experience from his loan spell with Everton and a period with West Brom before that.
It’s a shame for Chelsea fans that they didn’t get a chance to see him progress at Stamford Bridge but considering the cash they have spent this summer, making some of that back is important looking forward.
Who do you think has got the better deal, Chelsea or Everton?
