Less than £500k between Inter and Medel

Gary Medel Chile

Inter are set to finally complete a deal for Cardiff City's Gary Medel with reports in Italy suggesting a tiny difference between bid and valuation.

Gary Medel looks set to become an Inter player and a deal with Cardiff City could be finalised before the end of the working week.

The Chilean international has been on the Serie A side's shopping list for several weeks, having become a priority after his World Cup exploits.

Inter director Piero Ausilio entered into talks with his Cardiff counterparts over a fortnight ago and the terms of a deal have slowly come together.

According to Italian newspaper Leggo, Inter have reached the 'final straight' and the two clubs are very close to an agreement.

The article claims that Inter and Cardiff spoke again yesterday afternoon and the Nerazzurri's bid is now just £400,000 short of the amount the Welsh club are asking for.

There is still some debate over the timings of payments with Inter looking to space them out and Cardiff wanting a lump sum up front.

But Leggo believes that the chances of a deal falling through now are increasingly slim and the differences between the two clubs could be ironed out quickly.

It is suggested that the fee could be around £8 million, which is £3 million less than Cardiff paid Sevilla a year ago.

Medel is said to be determined to join Inter and is pushing for the transfer to be completed so that he can join his new teammates.

Inter may be slightly distracted by their other transfer mission, which is to sign a goal scorer. Southampton's Pablo Daniel Osvaldo seems to be the most likely option, but there could be competition from Juventus, who had the player on loan last season.
