Tottenham’s pre-season plans are starting to take shape as two key players are among the World Cup stars to have returned to training ahead of the new season.
Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris and centre-back Jan Vertonghen have both returned to the first team fold for new head coach Mauricio Pochettino as he mulls over his options ahead of the first Premier League game in two weekends time.
The Argentine has acted well in the transfer market so far with sensible additions and he appears to be getting the most out of players like Erik Lamela, who struggled to make an impact last season.
Having the club’s World Cup stars back in training means Pochettino can now focus on the shape, formation and basic philosophy that he wants the side to take forward over the next year.
It should also substantially reduce the number of transfer rumours which have been flying around in relation to Lloris and Vertonghen who will both be important parts of the team this coming season.
How important will Lloris and Vertonghen be for Spurs this season?
