Transfer Clock: Quintero Arsenal update, Manchester United's £20m deal? Liverpool's £26m La Liga raid

Juan Quintero

Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United feature.

Transfer Clock: 32 days until the transfer window closes. Here are the big developing stories you need to know about...

Quintero to Arsenal move dismissed

Arsenal have been heavily linked with signing Colombian forward Juan Quintero from Porto, with The Metro claiming he was 'flying in' to complete a transfer.

This has been dismissed by the player's agent, Ricardo Calleri, who told reporters in Portugal: "Porto never talked to negotiate Juan Quintero. Sure there are clubs interested, there is much interest in the player, the clubs in Spain and England, but to leave would be one willing to pay the termination clause of the club."

Quintero's release clause is €40 million, more than twice the amount the Gunners were rumoured to want to pay for him.

Manchester United linked to Hummels again

Manchester United have been linked with signing Mats Hummels once again, with The Mirror claiming they are 'closing in' on a deal.

The paper write: "Louis van Gaal’s chase for Borussia Dortmund centre-half Hummels was back on late Thursday evening with the two clubs near to agreement on a £20 million switch."

The report is leant added weight by claims Dortmund are in negotiations to sign centre-back Tiago Ilori on loan for a season from Liverpool.

Dortmund have always publicly dismissed the notion Hummels could leave, and are expected to want at least £30 million for him. The capability of the inexperienced Ilori to replace him is also very questionable, although Dortmund have already added Matthias Ginter this summer.

Liverpool eye double La Liga raid

Liverpool are being linked with a La Liga double swoop to sign two full-backs. The Mail are one of a number of papers to report the Reds are close to finally agreeing a £20 million fee for Sevilla's Alberto Moreno.

Moreno has been linked with Liverpool for a number of months, and this week Iago Aspas revealed he had even warned the left-back off a switch.

The paper add that the Reds aim to tie up right-back Javier Manquillo from Atletico Madrid on a two-year long loan, which would have a £6 million option to buy.
