Will van Gaal finally let this Manchester United star play in his preferred position?

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has been toying with his 3-4-1-2 system - which could be great news for Adnan Januzaj.

The van Gaal era has got off to a great start so far, with United winning all of their pre-season games under the Dutchman. The big takeaway from the warm-up games has been that van Gaal has continued to utilise his 3-4-1-2 formation that served him so well at the World Cup.

Entering the tournament with little to no expectation attached to the Netherlands national team, van Gaal masterminded the team's journey to the semi-finals, conjuring up one of the most stunning World Cup displays in recent history as his side dismantled 2010 winners Spain 5-1.

Further good wins against the likes of Australia, Chile, Mexico and Costa Rica led them to the last four, only to be beaten on penalties by Argentina. Now, despite having rarely used the system before the World Cup, van Gaal has brought it to Old Trafford.

The system uses a No. 10 behind two strikers - at the World Cup that was Wesley Sneijder, but for United it'll be Juan Mata. Many thought that his backup would by Japanese international Shinji Kagawa, but reports suggest that van Gaal is willing to let the former Borussia Dortmund star leave the club.

That means that youngster Januzaj, who burst onto the scene last season, could be deployed behind the strikers. The Belgian admitted that his favourite position is as a number 10 when he first broke into the side, and with Wayne Rooney moving further forward and Kagawa potentially on his way, Januzaj could finally get to play in his preferred position.

"My best position will behind the striker as a number 10," he said. "I always used to play there when I was really young. I can also play on the wings and I always do my best. I would do that even if it was at left-back. It is my job. But number 10 is the position I always wanted to play."

Now, with van Gaal at the helm - who has always trusted young players more than most - Januzaj could be set to flourish even more than he did last season.

Should Januzaj be allowed to play as a No. 10?
