Tottenham Hotspur Re Generation

Eric Dier has joined Tottenham Hotspur from Sporting Lisbon on a five-year deal.

Mauricio Pochettino has built up a reputation for bringing through young talent in recent years, especially after the way he implemented the likes of Luke Shaw and Callum Chambers at St Marys.

With that in mind he has moved to do the same at Tottenham Hotspur and today it was confirmed that Tottenham had completed a deal to sign highly rated Sporting Lisbon youngster Eric Dier.

Dier, who spent time on loan at Everton when he was younger, moved to Portugal at the age of ten and joined the Sporting academy in 2003. Last season was the England under-21 internationals breakthrough year and now he has returned to England - with big hopes of becoming a future international and Premier League star.

Tottenham have released some pictures of Dier in his new Spurs training kit and putting on the home shirt for the first time - the kit he will wear when fighting Michael Dawson, Younes Kaboul, Jan Vertonghen and Vlad Chiriches for a place in the starting XI.

Speaking of the move Dier said:

"I am really excited to be joining such a big club in the Premier League. It has always been my ambition to come back to England and play in the Premier League so I am really happy to be back. I want to impress the manager and keep the fans happy. I want to do as well as possible for the club. The Premier League is the biggest league in the world. I was watching a lot of Tottenham during my time in Portugal. I enjoy watching Tottenham play because of their attacking style. I want to adapt quickly to the Premier League and do as best I can."

If he can continue to develop the way he was at Sporting then Spurs have just found themselves an absolute gem and perhaps finally a worthy replacement for club legend Ledley King.

Is Eric Dier a future England international?
