Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have both been given a lift in the pursuit for exciting youngster Memphis Depay as the Dutch international refuses to rule out a move this summer.
The 20-year-old has shot to prominence in Holland over the past year following a stunning Eredivisie campaign with PSV and his call-up to the Dutch World Cup squad.
Interest in the player has been widespread, and United boss Louis Van Gaal has worked with the player first-hand and knows all about his ability.
Nonetheless, when the big leagues and the chance to play for Europe’s biggest clubs come calling it’s an offer more often than not too good to turn down.
In an interview reported by Dutch publication De Telegraaf, Depay admitted as such and stated that he is open to a move should one of the big leagues come reporting.
He said: “If a nice club from a big league reports then I will of course think about it. I understand that fans want me to play well this season in Eindhoven, I see so many kids with my name on their shirt that makes me proud, but ultimately I'm the one who decides how my career will look like and no one else."
In 32 Eredivise appearances last season, the exciting winger notched an impressive 12 goals and earned his place in Van Gaal’s 23-man World Cup squad.
He scored in both of Holland’s group victories over Australia and Chile, and went on to be named on the three-man shortlist for the World Cup’s best young player.
