Frustrated Arsenal youngster talks about desire for first team football

Arsenal youngster Kris Olsson has spoken of his desire for more first-team football.

Young Arsenal playmaker Kris Olsson has admitted that he is considering his options at the club after growing tired of youth-team football.

The Swedish U21 international joined the Gunners from IFK Norrkoping in 2011 as a 16-year-old having been on two previous trials at the club and impressing both academy manager Liam Brady and boss Arsene Wenger.

His development at the club has been noted, yet the now 19-year-old has only ever featured for the Arsenal first-team on one occasion – coming off the bench during a League Cup victory over West Bromwich Albion.

His lack of competitive action has left Olsson considering his future and he recently told reporters back in his native Sweden that he’s struggling to motivate himself for meaningless games,

“You do not want to play in front of 500 people against another u21 team. You want to have the motivation to play in front of people and at great venues where you fight for it.” He said, quoted by site fotbolltransfers.com.

The attacking midfielder went on to suggest that he wants to play regular first-team football and whilst preferably wanting to stay in England, a move abroad won’t be ruled out.

“I can say I will not be left in the u21. But I have a contract with Arsenal and it is they who decide. They say I should stay, I cannot say much. Then I think of what’s best for me and we’ll meet halfway there, but I want first team football.”

“There is quite a lot of interest. But, at the same time, I want to feel that I was not going to a club where I get minutes now and then but I know that I am going to a club where they believe in me.”

“I would like to remain in England, the Championship perhaps, I have come in to life here. But if it’s a good club in Holland, Italy or another country, I get to think about it too.”
