Arsenal transfer news: £30m German linked; player's agent tipped for Milan talks

Mats Hummels 2 Germany

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Arsenal

Arsenal are reportedly interested in Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels.

The Sunday Mirror claims the Gunners are ready to go head to head with Manchester United for the German international, with an alleged belief that the player could leave for a fee in the region of £30million.

Given the centre-back pairing at Arsenal’s disposal, if Hummels did arrive at the Emirates it would leave one quality centre-back lacking in game-time, given the impressive partnership of Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker.

In other news, Football Italia reports on claims that Joel Campbell’s agent will meet with representatives from AC Milan today.

Sky Sport Italia claim the Serie A club want to take the Costa Rican international on loan next season, despite Arsene Wenger’s intimation that the player will remain in North London for the upcoming campaign.

And finally, the Sunday Mirror claims Arsenal would prefer to sell Thomas Vermaelen to a club abroad rather than to reported suitors United.

As a result, Barcelona are said to be favourites for the Belgian defender’s signature.
