Felix Kroos scored Werder Bremen's third goal from the penalty spot in an impressive 3-0 win over the Blues
Though the move never happened in the end, with Kroos instead switching to Real Madrid after an impressive World Cup winning summer, there were plenty of United fans who would have wished they had a Kroos in Louis van Gaal's starting line up come the Premier League opener with Swansea.
Well it seems there is more than one talented player in the Kroos family, and what's more, this weekend he netted against Chelsea in a friendly match.
Toni Kroos's younger brother Felix is set to play an important role for Werder Bremen in the upcoming Bundesliga campaign, alongside former Chelsea forward Franco di Santo.
And the younger Kroos signalled his importance to his side by netting Werder Bremen's third goal as they beat Jose Mourinho's side 3-0 in Germany.
Felix Kroos's ascent to professional Bundesliga footballer hasn't been as smooth as Germany international Toni's.
He has made just 27 league appearances since signing for Bremen from Hansa Rostock in 2010, and his professional debut for Die Werderaner saw him concede a penalty against Tottenham in the Champions League.
But last year was a breakthrough campaign for the 23-year-old, making 20 Bundesliga appearances and scoring one goal.
This season is likely to be the season for Kroos to really prove he is capable of seizing a regular spot in one of Germany's biggest sides.
Can Felix Kroos go on to follow his brother into the Germany setup?
