A select round-up of the latest news relating to Chelsea

Chelsea could add to their already impressive midfield next summer, with the free signing of Real Madrid star Sami Khedira.

That is the claim of the Daily Star, which reports that the German international could run down his contract at the Bernabeu before reuniting with Jose Mourinho at Stamford Bridge.

The midfielder has been heavily linked with Arsenal this summer, but the latest report claims Khedira may even have already agreed to a switch 12 months down the line.

In other news, the same newspaper publishes quotes from Mourinho in which he revealed that both Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole were offered new deals to remain at Chelsea.

Cole has since joined Roma while Lampard has agreed a short-term loan move to Manchester City prior to beginning his new job in the MLS with New York City.

But Mourinho said, “They were offered (new deals).

“We were in the process until the end, but you arrive into a moment (where you ask) what’s the best for the team? What’s the best for the other players? What’s the best for them?”

Would you like to see Khedira ultimately move to Chelsea?
