Liverpool transfer news: Rodgers hails Italian; left-back importance revealed

Mario Balotelli Italy

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Liverpool

The Sunday Express reports that Liverpool are interested in AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli.

The Italian frontman is regularly linked with a new club and the latest to find themselves on that list is Brendan Rodgers’ side.

The newspaper has published quotes from Rodgers in which he hailed the former Manchester City forward.

But despite hailing him “a big talent” and revealing that he has all the attributes Rodgers likes, that does not mean a move is forthcoming. Many managers admire many players in the game, and it remains to be seen if Balotelli is the player the Reds take a chance on to replace the departed Luis Suarez up front.

In other news, former Liverpool player Alan Kennedy believes reported Reds target Alberto Moreno could be a great addition to the side.

In the Liverpool Echo, Kennedy hailed the importance of the left-back position, saying, “You need to have that bit of continuity in your team and Liverpool haven’t had that in the left-back position for years now.”

With Moreno tipped to swap Sevilla for Merseyside that could soon change.
