Manchester United’s bid to sign another midfielder before the start of the season continues as they turn their attentions to former target and Atletico Madrid star Arda Turan, reports in Turkey claim.
The Red Devils have been heavily linked with a move for Juventus star Arturo Vidal over the past two weeks, though their bid to sign the Chilean appears to be waning.
As a result, boss Louis Van Gaal appears to have wasted no time in setting his sights on further midfield improvement as he sounds out methodical wide player Arda Turan.
Kagawa has been a disappointment since arriving to the club in 2012, struggling to make an impact in the first-team and failing to hit the back of the net last season.
The Madrid-based outfit have been linked with a move for the former Dortmund playmaker in the past, and they may find United’s new proposal an interesting proposition.
Turan has three years remaining on his contract with a reported release clause of €40million, and has been linked with an exit for much of the summer.
Despite not offering much in terms of a goal threat, he is described as a technically gifted midfielder with an excellent range of passing – perfectly suited to solve United’s renowned midfield crisis.
Since arriving in the Spanish capital three years ago, Turan has played a total of 132 games for the club, helping Los Rojiblancos win La Liga, the Copa Del Rey and the Europa League.
Should Manchester United sacrifice Shinji Kagawa to sign Arda Turan?
