Chelsea's £18m World Cup winner back in London; 'can't wait' for training

Andre Schurrle Germany

Andre Schurrle will report for training with the Blues on Monday morning.

The Chelsea forward, who came on in the World Cup final to set up Mario Gotze for the goal that made Germany world champions, had been granted extra leave due to his exploits in Brazil.

Now, though, Schurrle is back in the country and, by the sounds of it, he is rather excited.

Posting on Twitter, the 23-year-old expressed his delight at returning to London and confirmed he will join up with the Chelsea squad on Monday.

Jose Mourinho may expect big things from Schurrle this term, after congratulating him for his World Cup performances.

And, as Opta stats show, the German's debut Premier League campaign was full of promise, too.

In 30 games for the Blues, Schurrle scored eight times, ending the season as Chelsea's fourth-highest scorer.

The 23-year-old also made more appearances from the bench than any other player in Mourinho's squad (15).

Now it is Schurrle's second season on these shores, however, with the German more accustomed to English football, it may be time for the 'Special One' to put greater faith in him.

How big a part will Schurrle play in Chelsea's season?
