Benito Carbone speaks out following departure from Leeds United

Leeds United East Stand

The Italian was brought in following Massimo Cellino's takeover but has left the club after just two months.

Benito Carbone's departure from Leeds United has been confirmed although the former Sheffield Wednesday and Aston Villa player says he hopes to return to England soon.

It was a surprise appointment at the time when Carbone was initially confirmed as a consultant by the club, however he eventually went on to become the Under-21's manager replacing Neil Redfearn. The Italian theme has continued this summer with the focus of Leeds' signings coming from Italy. However despite enjoying his spell at the club, Carbone has had to return to Italy for 'family reasons'.

It seems as if he created a close bond with his team in his short time at the club and perhaps Cellino will look to him in the future if he becomes available to work again. At one point it seemed as if Carbone could have been the new manager but that role eventually went to Dave Hockaday.

It is hard to predict how Leeds will fare this year but it will surely be a fascinating ride at Elland Road.
