A select round-up of the latest news relating to Manchester United

Manchester United winger Wilfried Zaha is back in the gossip columns today, with the Daily Mail claiming West Ham United want him to boost their options in forward positions.

The former Crystal Palace player has been told by Louis van Gaal that he will have to adapt to a striking role in the Dutchman’s 3-5-2 formation. And it remains to be seen if the player will embrace that chance or seek a spell on loan where he can continue to play out wide.

In other news, United winger Demetri Mitchell is reportedly a target for new Southampton boss Ronald Koeman.

That is the claim of the Mirror, who suggest the 17-year-old could head to St Mary’s on loan.

Big things are expected of Mitchell, who netted four goals in one match during a recent 11-0 pre-season victory for United’s youth team. And this could be the perfect chance for van Gaal to see what the 17-year-old can do when given regular first-team football.

And finally, the Express claims Arsenal are preparing a £24million bid to beat United to the signing of Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho.

In truth it seems United have ended their interest in the player, given that David Moyes scouted him upwards of 15 times and looked set to make a move before his sacking.

But for £24million, William will ultimately prove a bargain for anyone prepared to stump up the cash.

What do you think the future holds for Zaha and Mitchell?
