Oriol Romeu has moved from Chelsea to Stuttgart on a season long loan deal.

Chelsea midfielder Oriol Romeu has been unveiled by German club VFB Stuttgart.

The 22-year-old has moved to the Bundesliga on a season long loan deal, as he looks to secure regular first team football, which wasn’t possible with the Blues.

Romeu featured at the start of Chelsea’s pre-season campaign which created the idea that he could seriously push Nemanja Matic for the holding role in the side’s midfield over the course of the season.

It’s the second successive season that Romeu has spent time on loan away from the Blues, as he featured for Valencia in La Liga last season.

He’s only made 33 appearances so far in his career at Stamford Bridge but should he excel in this latest loan deal, he’ll put a lot of pressure on Jose Mourinho to use him during the 2015/2016 season.

He can take hope that he still has a future at the club from Thibaut Courtois’ three years on loan with Atletico Madrid before returning as one of the best players in his position in the world.

Are you surprised Mourinho has let Romeu go on loan?
