Zlatan Ibrahimovic gave a cold response when asked about target Angel Di Maria’s proposed move to PSG.

Paris Saint-Germain striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic doubted the need to sign Manchester United target Angel Di Maria after a telling interview with reporters.

The Argentine international has been heavily linked with a move away from Real Madrid this summer, despite a fabulous past season where he topped the European assist charts with a whopping 17.

His frustration at being recognised as a valuable player is said to be behind his desire to leave as both the Red Devils and French champions PSG look on with interest.

According to reports on Saturday, Spanish newspaper Diario Sport suggest United may have already been pipped to the player as a reported €80million agreement between PSG and Real Madrid is said to have been reached.

Following Les Parisiens’ 2-0 French Cup final victory over Guingamp on Sunday, iconic striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic was asked on the potential arrival of Di Maria and responded coldly - doubting whether the club actually need him.

“I don’t know if we need Di Maria. We have a great group of players here already who in the last few months has won titles without him.” He said, quoted by Spanish publication AS.

Whilst Zlatan’s comments may come as a surprise, they may be born out of disappointment at the prospect of losing fellow strike partners and close teammates Edinson Cavani or Javier Pastore.

The French club are said to be struggling to comply with Financial Fair Play following the big-money signing of Brazilian defender David Luiz, and one or two departures may have to happen before the Real Madrid winger can become an official PSG player.
