Robin van Persie has sent a message to his teammates after their Guinness International Champions Cup triumph.
Robin van Persie only returned to Manchester United training on Monday, following the break that proceeded his World Cup exploits with the Netherlands.
So while he may have loved to have been a part of Louis van Gaal's first tour party, the striker instead had to watch his teammates' triumph from afar.
United followed up their victories over Roma, Inter Milan and Real Madrid with a 3-1 win over Premier League rivals Liverpool. And following that match, van Persie posted a photograph of his celebrating teammates along with a message of congratulations.
"Well done lads," the Dutchman wrote.
Van Persie has already been ruled out of the opening match of the season as he is unlikely to be match fit, but it will be interesting just how effective this United side is when the 30-year-old is firing on all cylinders.
After all, van Gaal's side has already scored 16 goals this summer, and they are only going to become more effective in front of goal when van Persie is available once more; if he can get into the side that is...
Do you think van Persie is set for his best season in a United shirt?
