Manchester United may be about to miss out on Quincy Promes.

Manchester United appear poised to miss out on talented Dutch youngster Quincy Promes.

The FC Twente winger impressed last season, scoring 11 goals and providing eight assists in the Eredivisie.

He also hit the headlines with a hat-trick against Scotland for Netherlands under-21 side in June, managed by now United assistant coach Albert Stuivenberg.

Promes was quizzed about United's interest after the match, commenting that 'everyone wants to go to Manchester', but it appears his future lies elsewhere.

Dutch website NOS report that Promes is set for a surprise move to Russia, to sign with Spartak Moscow.

"The FC Twente striker will almost certainly make the transition to the Russian league. The clubs are already in outline agreement on a transfer."

It would be a serious blow to the former Dutch champions, who have already seen Dusan Tadic depart for Southampton.

Promes, 22, is rated highly and was handed a senior Netherlands international cap by Louis van Gaal in March.

Yet barring a late intervention from the Manchester United manager, it appears the Red Devils will miss out on the winger, in the short-term at least.
