The five teams revealed who Arsenal could face in Champions League play-offs

Champions League Pitch

The Champions League qualifying second leg games have wrapped up, and Arsenal have a clearer idea of who they could face later this month.

In what is becoming an annual hurdle to overcome, Arsenal's start to the Premier League will involved having to overcome a Champions League qualifier.

This year the Gunners are the team nobody wants to face, but there are a few tricky sides themselves they may want to avoid.

The second round second leg matches concluded this evening, and the five teams Arsenal can be drawn against in Friday's draw have been confirmed:

Lille

Lille finished third in Ligue 1 last season, with Salomon Kalou finishing top scorer on 16 goals. They have retained Divock Origi on loan for the year after his sale to Liverpool, and added exciting Manchester City attacker Marcos Lopes on loan.

Athletic Bilbao

Bilbao were hoping to be seeded, but Andre Villas-Boas' Zenit St Petersburg pushed them into the second pot by qualifying for the third round. The La Liga side will be one to avoid despite the sale of Ander Herrera to Manchester United, and have just moved into a new stadium.

Standard Liege

Standard Liege surprised a few by knocking out Panathaniakos in qualifying, and would be a comfortable draw for the Gunners to land. Belgian side Liege do not possess any big names, with former Wigan defender Ronnie Stam the most recognisable to fans of the Premier League.

Besiktas

Arsenal defeated Fenerbahce last year at the same stage, and a tricky draw against Besiktas therefore may not hold as much fear as it might have otherwise. Former Chelsea striker Demba Ba is the player to watch, while ex-Arsenal youngster Oguzhan Ozyakup will also have a prominent role.

FC Copenhagen

Copenhagen edged a close tie against Ukrainian side Dnipro, saving one side a potentially unwelcome trip to the country. They finished second in Denmark last season, and have former £8 million Cardiff City flop Andreas Cornelius up front.

The Champions League draw will be made on Friday August 8 at around midday.
