Ander Herrera wants to emulate Sir Bobby Charlton

Old Trafford

New signing Ander Herrera wants to eclipse the achievements of three-time league winning, European Cup titlist and World Cup winner Sir Bobby Charlton.

Earlier today, midfield recruit Ander Herrera - who has excelled during Manchester United's pre-season - spoke highly of his Red Devil compatriots, Juan Mata and David de Gea, who have both been fundamental to the transition the former Athletic Bilbao star has made this summer.

Herrera claimed they, together with the United roster as a whole, have made him feel at home immediately. However, there is another man who gave the Spaniard an "unforgettable day".

That man, a Manchester United legend and a mainstay through three decades of elite-level football, has gone on to enjoy an ambassadorial role with the club and, on Herrera's unveiling earlier in the transfer window, was on hand to meet and greet the £28.25 million acquisition.

"It was a pleasure to meet Sir Bobby Charlton," he reminisced.

"I am eternally thankful to everyone at United and to Sir Bobby because I was made to feel like a very special person and they made it an incredible, unforgettable day.

"I have a picture [with him] and will keep it all of my life because he is a Manchester United legend and I hope one day I can be like him."

What do you think Herrera will have to accomplish to become a United legend?
