Nottingham Forest's new signing has been pictured heading down to training for the first time since his move from Peterborough United yesterday.

Nottingham Forest’s new number nine, Britt Assombalonga, has posted a picture of himself in training for his new club for the first time.

The Congolese striker completed a move to the City Ground from Peterborough United yesterday in a club-record breaking deal – valued at around the £6 million mark.

It is a lot of pressure for the 21-year-old to be under in what will be his first season of playing regular Championship football, but he appears to be enjoying life already at his new club.

In the picture he can be seen smiling as he walks down to training, with fellow new signing Michail Antonio, where the duo would have been hoping to impress their new manager Stuart Pearce at the first chance.

The opportunity to represent Forest is a big step-up for Assombalonga, but he believes that he is up to the challenge.

"The boys have made me feel really welcome and it is obvious the manager has faith in me,” he said in his first interview since joining the club. “I've got confidence in myself that I can score goals at this level and I need to take that into the new season."

Assombalonga tore apart League One last season with Posh, where his pace and power was a threat to every defence across the division.

He scored 33 goals in all competitions and he will now be looking to emulate that sort of total in the red of Forest in the new campaign.

If he can the expensive initial outlay will start to look like value for money and it is sure to mean that Pearce’s side would be challenging at the right end of the table in May, as they seek a long-awaited return to the Premier League.

How many goals will Assombalonga score this season?
