All the latest summer transfer news from Serie A...
Manchester United's pursuit of Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal is seemingly ongoing, after reports that the Red Devils had offered the Chilean a contract worth around €12m-a-year. Still, the Turin outfit are believed to be looking for a fee in the region of £40m for their star player, and United need to try and find ways to bring that price tag down.
Their idea seems to include sending both winger Nani and striker Javier Hernandez to Turin in part-exchange for Vidal, but whether Massimiliano Allegri is interested in the out-of-favour duo remains to be seen.
Vidal doesn't appear to be the only Serie A star wanted by United, as Roma's Moroccan centre back Mehdi Benatia is now the subject of speculation suggesting that United are preparing a £30m bid for the defender. With just Phil Jones, Johnny Evans and Chris Smalling at Louis van Gaal's disposal, the Red Devils must add a centre back - and Benatia is seen as an alternative to Borussia Dortmund's Mats Hummels.
With the potential funds gained from the sale of Vidal, Juventus may look to splash the cash on two Colombians already playing in Italy. AC Milan centre back Cristian Zapata is seen as a possible replacement for wantaway Angelo Ogbonna, whilst an injury to new signing Alvaro Morata means that the Turin giants may look to snap up another striker - which may lead them to Udinese's Luis Muriel.
Elsewhere, Napoli are believed to be in discussions with Swansea over a deal which would see centre back Federico Fernandez head to South Wales. The Argentine started alongside Ezequiel Garay at the World Cup in Brazil this summer, and with Chico Flores seemingly leaving the Swansea, a €10m deal could be in the offing.
Finally, AC Milan forward Robinho has finally left the San Siro, rejoining former club Santos on a season-long loan deal.
