AC Milan consider raid for Napoli star

AC Milan

AC Milan are plotting a swoop for Napoli midfielder Blerim Dzemaili, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Switzerland international Blerim Dzemaili has caught the eye of AC Milan and Rossoneri vice-president Adriano Galliani may make a late swoop.

Dzemaili scored the decisive goal as Napoli beat Barcelona 1-0 in a pre-season friendly and the Macedonian-born defender is making a name for himself in Serie A.

The ex-Bolton man also played his part at the World Cup, scoring the first direct free-kick of the competition during Switzerland's 5-2 loss to France.

Milan are still hoping to strengthen their squad ahead of the new campaign as they look to bounce back from a horrendous 2013-14 season under new boss Pippo Inzaghi.

But the San Siro side may have to leave any further transfer activity until late in the transfer window because they first need to resolve the future of Mario Balotelli.

According to Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, Napoli may have to listen to offers for Dzemaili, whose contract expires next summer.

Spanish side Sevilla are also interested, but Milan appear to have the advantage if they can get their financial situation in order.

La Gazzetta dello Sport suggests that the deal could go down to wire and may even take place in transfer deadline day.
