Mourinho to play strong Chelsea team in Turkey

Mourinho Press Conference Still

The time for playing youngsters is over according to the Chelsea boss.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has said that he will play a strong side in the two 45 minute games in Turkey against Besiktas and Fenerbahce.

Mourinho has said the time to play the younger players in pre-season friendlies is over and will go with a stronger team in Istanbul, featuring some of the stars who played for Brazil at the World Cup - along with Andre Schurrle, who helped Germany to become World Champions in South America.

The Blues' boss is quoted by their official website, saying: "From the football point of view it’s good because we are going to compete against two teams almost in the last phase of their preparation. Besiktas have even already played two matches in the Champions League, so we are going to play against two teams in a different stage of their preparation. That is good for us.

"Finally we are going to play with all of our players because the Brazilians and Schurrle joined the team this week. They need to play more than the others. We are going to play with our best team. The period where we used the kids to help us to play these matches is finished. They go back to our youth teams."

Of course, it hasn't been just about the younger players this pre-season for Chelsea as new signings Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas have been amongst those who have featured prominently during their preparations for the new campaign - whilst the returning Didier Drogba has also featured.

With Chelsea's campaign getting underway a week on Monday when they travel to Turf Moor to take on Burnley, more minutes under the belt of the regular first team players will help the side to hit the ground running, as they're likely to face a side who are fired up in their first match returning to the top flight.

The Blues are taking part in a charity event in Turkey to raise funds for the families of the victims of the Soma mining disaster.
