West London latest: Newcastle 'not given up' on Remy, Magath says signing Mitroglou was a mistake

Loic Remy

The latest transfer news from Queens Park Rangers and Fulham.

QPR

According to the Newcastle Evening Chronicle, Newcastle United have not given up on signing Rs striker Loic Remy.

Liverpool recently pulled out of a deal to sign the Frenchman, claiming that he had failed his medical, but the Magpies are reportedly still monitoring the 27-year-old, who spent last season on loan at St James' Park.

Alan Pardew is said to be looking at either Remy or Alexandre Lacazette, with Newcastle already having signed seven players this summer.

Should Remy leave Loftus Road, Harry Redknapp would be left with just Charlie Austin and Bobby Zamora as his senior strikers.

QPR have also been linked with an interesting move for Tottenham forward Andros Townsend.

Fulham

Fulham boss Felix Magath has insisted that signing Kostas Mitroglou in January was a mistake.

The German also confirmed he expects goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg to leave the club this summer.

Meanwhile, midfielder Scott Paker has revealed that promotion is the 'minimum objective' for the Cottagers this season.

“The manager, Felix Magath, has told the squad that promotion is the minimum objective," he told the Evening Standard.

"We want to get back into the Premier League, where this club deserves to be, as quickly as we can. The aim is going up as champions but we will not take anything for granted.”

Will Remy be a QPR player this time next month?
