DeAndre Yedlin had medical at Tottenham Friday - Deal pending

USA Supporters

DeAndre Yedlin has rejected potential moves to Italy in order to join Tottenham Hotspur.

He was not even the starting right-back for the USA at the World Cup this summer but still it is DeAndre Yedlin who has come back to a furore over his potential future - with teams from across Europe reportedly scrambling for his signature.

Yedlin appeared on a number of occasions as a substitute for the flying full-back Fabian Johnson, and the Seattle Sounders' youngster clearly impressed during his rare appearances.

Soon after the USA had been knocked out of the competition by the much-fancied Belgians Yedlin found his name linked with several big clubs, including Liverpool.

The Reds were reportedly set to offer Yedlin a trial at the club. Meanwhile the Seattle Sounders star has also been linked with Serie A sides AS Roma and Genoa. In fact some reports in Italy even claimed that the deal was done - a breaking news story that now seems slightly premature.

Because yesterday Yedlin was in London undergoing a medical at Tottenham Hotspur ahead of a reported £2.75 million switch from the MLS.

The talented World Cup star has reportedly agreed terms with Tottenham over his future, after Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino made his move earlier in the week.

Tottenham currently have Kyle Walker and Kyle Naughton at right-back, but with doubts over the latter, and in honesty the former, Spurs have been looking into right-backs all summer.

Yedlin will reportedly stay with Seattle until the end of the MLS season at which point he will join Tottenham in January on a rumoured four-year deal.

Can Yedlin be a Premier League star?
