Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini is reportedly keen on extending up to four players’ contracts at the Etihad Stadium.

Manchester City could award new contracts to up to four of their stars in the coming week, as manager Manuel Pellegrini looks to tie down key players in his squad.

The Daily Mail reported that Argentina striker Sergio Aguero will be City’s priority and will be offered £210,000-a-week deal to stay beyond his current deal.

The striker, who has been linked with Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona in the past, is currently contracted to the club until 2017, with the Citizens keen to sign him until at least 2019.

Earlier in the week, the Premier League champions had also made moves to secure the long-term future of captain Vincent Kompany, who was also supposedly on Barcelona’s radar. His deal is set to be worth around £10m-per-year, with the club keen to give him a six-year contract.

Other players set to earn new deals include striker Edin Dzeko, goalkeeper Joe Hart and utility man James Milner. The latter is reported to wait and see how much game time he will get this season before committing to a new contract, having been on Liverpool’s radar just last month.

Three of their stars, Hart, Kompany and Aguero, will likely form part of the City spine for years to come. The trio all played big parts in securing the club's first Premier League title in 2012, and ensuring they won it back last season.

Aguero found himself injured in last parts last season, but still scored 28 goals in all competitions, while Kompany was as solid as ever at the back. Hart was temporarily replaced by substitute keeper Costel Pantilimon in the early part of the campaign, but he eventually wrestled back his place.

Dzeko and Milner enjoyed different seasons, with the striker also contributing heavily in Aguero’s absence, while the midfielder struggled to cement down a regular place.

Will Manchester City secure the futures of their main stars this season?
