One time Liverpool prospect and 'next Fowler' discarded by League One side

Adam Morgan has been loaned out to St Johnstone until January.

Back in 2012 Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler said this about one of the club's young striking talents:

“As a goalscorer I think he’s fantastic. I was lucky enough to train with him at the Academy last year when I was doing some coaching...He’s a young lad, he’s got a lot to learn about his play outside the box but that will come. As a finisher he is probably one of the best I’ve seen for a long, long time to be honest.”

The player in question was Adam Morgan, a player dubbed the 'next Robbie Fowler' by many. Morgan found himself on the precipice of the Liverpool first-team at the start of the 2012-13 campaign as Brendan Rodgers stripped back the club in order to lay his own foundations at Anfield.

Morgan even saw first-team football. He featured in Europa League ties against Hearts and Anzhi Makhachkala at the beginning of the campaign.

So hope was high that one day, Morgan could emulate Fowler and become a regular goal-scorer in front of The Kop.

Almost exactly two years after Fowler gave that interview, lauding Morgan as the next big thing, the now 20-year-old striker has been loaned out to SPL side St Johnstone - from Yeovil Town, in League Two.

Morgan signed a two-and-a-half year deal with The Glovers in January 2014 but has failed to make an impact for the club.

He failed to to score for the club in his first five months and with Yeovil signing AJ Leitch-Smith to contend with James Hayter, Sam Hoskins and Kieffer Moore for a striking spot Morgan has been deemed surplus to requirements.

He will now spend the next six months in Scotland, trying his utmost to prove his worth after a disappointing year in professional football.

He may not be the 'next Robbie Fowler' but Adam Morgan can still forge a career in his own name if he is a hit north of the border.

Can Morgan still make it?
