Spurs Warmup 2010

Erik Lamela was shown in the new Tottenham kit, with the club set to turn out in it against Schalke later today.

Spurs have shown off their new third kit today, with Erik Lamela and Andros Townsend modelling an all yellow number with black trimming.

The club will play in the their new third strip in today's friendly with Schalke at White Hart Lane. The game against the Bundesliga giants is the final of the club's preseason, and with Mauricio Pochettino yet to taste defeat since his arrival, it is hopeful Spurs will be able to explode out of the blocks in the Premier League next weekend against West Ham.

The yellow third strip is somewhat of a classic for Tottenham, and is not too dissimilar to the 2009/10 Puma kit, though the black rather than navy trimming does make it a little more unique.

Like the other kits this season, it is partly inspired by club legend Bill Nicholson, who passed away 10 years ago. Yellow was first worn during his successful spell as manager from the 50s all the way through to the 70s, and there are 11 stripes along the sleeves to signify the 11 trophies Bill won during his time at the club.

Quotes of the club legend are incorporated into the design, with "echo of glory" subtly included on the back of the third shirt.

Bill Nicholson famously said of playing the beautiful game: "It is better to fail aiming high than to succeed aiming low. And we of Spurs have set our sights very high, so high in fact that even failure will have in it an echo of glory.'"

Let us know what you think of the strip below.
