13 clearances, 5 interceptions - £16m Arsenal man dominates City attack

Arsene Wenger Waves

Arsenal's Calum Chambers put in an impressive performance for the Gunners against Manchester City.

Arsenal's Calum Chambers was hailed as a future defensive midfielder for the Gunners in midweek, but it was in central defence where he made his mark against Manchester City.

He was a key figure in helping keep a clean sheet in the 3-0 victory, and was praised by Arsene Wenger after the game.

The Frenchman told Arsenal.com: "Chambers was outstanding. He played with a maturity and intelligence that I was really impressed with."

Wenger's eyes were not deceiving him. Statistically Chambers was better than anybody else in several departments.

Clearances

Chambers made 13 successful clearances, more than any other player on the pitch. Kieran Gibbs was closest with nine.

Interceptions

The teenager blunted City's attack with five interceptions. This was more than any other Arsenal player, with City's Matija Nastasic matching him.

Long balls

Chambers played three accurate long balls. This was more than any Arsenal teammate, and more than the rest of his defenders combined.

Passes

The 34 passes Calum Chambers made was equalled by Kieran Gibbs, and more than any of the other Arsenal defenders on display.

Tackling

Mathieu Debuchy led the Arsenal defence with six tackles, while Chambers, Gibbs, and Koscienly matched on two a piece. Chambers was however the only defender to make a successful last man tackle.

Were you impressed with Chambers' performance? Will he be a star?
