Daley Blind reacts to making substitute appearance for Ajax against Vitesse

Manchester United target Daley Blind came on as a second-half substitute in Ajax’s 4-1 victory over Vitesse in the Eredivisie on Sunday.

Daley Blind was one of the stars of the 2014 World Cup, his performances sparking suggestions that he could join Manchester United this summer to reunite with his now-former Netherlands national team coach Louis van Gaal.

The 24-year-old Ajax star is a versatile footballer who can play both at left-back and in defensive midfield, and would be a good addition to a United squad that still does have enough quality to challenge for the Premier League title this season.

Having helped the Oranje to the semi-finals of the tournament in Brazil earlier this summer and then gone on a summer break, Blind returned to competitive action on Sunday.

The Dutchman came on as a substitute for Ajax in the 59th minute during their opening Eredivisie game of the 2014-15 season against Vitesse at the Amsterdam ArenA.

Blind made an instant impact as it was his cross just past the hour mark that led to a corner for Ajax from which Mike van der Hoorn headed home from close range to make it 3-1 to the hosts.

The United target, who recently admitted that he would find it tough to reject offers from the Red Devils and Barcelona (click here to read more), had a good and composed game thereafter, playing largely on the left side.

Ajax eventually went on to win the match 4-1, kicking off their quest for a fifth successive Eredivisie title in style and leading Blind to feel delighted to have played his role in the win.
