Yesterday saw Arsenal captain Thomas Vermaelen finally leave the club after weeks of speculation over his future at The Emirates Stadium. The Belgian international will be officially unveiled at the Nou Camp later today - and had a picture taken in his new kit yesterday.
Barcelona have their man, Vermaelen signing a five-year deal in Catalonia with a fee believed to be in the region of £15 million exchanging hands for the defender.
Of course it was not just Barca who were keen on the Arsenal player, indeed Manchester United also bid for the player.
Reports claim that Arsenal wanted a player in exchange for Vermaelen along with a sizeable fee, with England international Chris Smalling apparently the target of Arsenal's affection.
So United will be pretty gutted to have missed out on their transfer target, well most of the United team will be anyway - but not one of them.
Marouane Fellaini joined Manchester United last summer and struggled under David Moyes, now he looks like he is on his way, with Louis van Gaal not believed to be a fan of the Belgian.
Now the midfielder has congratulated Vermaelen on his Barcelona move and wished him good luck in his new adventure - even if it is not at Manchester United. Awkward.
Congratulation @T_Vermaelen05 ... Good luck and enjoy with your new team— Marouane Fellaini (@fellainiM) August 9, 2014
Is Barca the best place for Vermaelen?
