Liverpool player ratings v Dortmund: Coutinho unbelievable, Sturridge superb

Coutinho Liverpool

The Reds put on a classy performance as they thumped Borussia Dortmund 4-0 at Anfield.

Simon Mignolet - 6/10

The Belgian was largely untroubled but got a few important touches to the ball. It goes without saying that he'll need to be on his guard a lot more for next week's Premier League opener against Southampton.

Glen Johnson - 6/10

The right-back started down the left today and was heavily involved in Liverpool's forward play. Was outshine by Javier Manquillo on the opposite flank, however.

Martin Skrtel - 7/10

Like Mignolet, the Slovakian had little to do but did well when called upon.

Dejan Lovren - 8/10

An immediate contender to be first-choice centre-back. The Croatian was superb on his Anfield debut and even scored with a textbook header from a corner. Could Lovren be the much-sought solution to Liverpool's defensive woes?

Javier Manquillo - 7/10

The Reds debutant enjoyed a fine first outing at Anfield and showed his ability to cross and get forward as well as cover defensively.

Steven Gerrard - 7/10

Another good pre-season display from the skipper, who will be more determined than ever to succeed this term. Almost scored with a long-range free kick and passed well throughout.

Jordan Henderson - 8/10

Does this man ever stop running? He didn't today and was rewarded with a second-half goal. Overall, another impressive performance from the 24-year-old.

Emre Can - 7/10

Much like Henderson, Can impressed with his work-rate and physicality. This was another good game for the young midfielder, who has really proved himself in pre-season.

Philippe Coutinho - 9.5/10

What a performance. The Brazilian was everywhere and his flair and passing were beyond comprehension. Coutinho has shown so much skill in pre-season that, if he continues in this vein, he could become the most creative player in the Premier League.

Raheem Sterling - 8/10

Like his attacking counterparts, Sterling enjoyed a fine outing at Anfield, being heavily involved in most of Liverpool's surges forward and causing endless problems down the left. The 19-year-old is another Reds star ready to take the coming season by the scruff of the neck.

Daniel Sturridge - 9/10

Not only did the England striker open the scoring, he was instrumental in Liverpool's fourth and generally caused havoc for Dortmund. When Sturridge is fit, the Reds simply don't need another forward. The only concern is if the former Chelsea and Manchester City man gets injured.

Substitutes

Jose Enrique - 6/10

Came on for Johnson with less than half an hour to go but had very little to do. Should the Spaniard be Liverpool's first-choice left-back?

Lucas - 6.5/10

Came on for Can in the second half and was solid, if unspectacular.

Martin Kelly, Joe Allen, Jordon Ibe and Rickie Lambert also came on for late cameos.

What did you make of Liverpool's 4-0 win?
