Remember that first series of trailers for Techland and Deep Silver’s Dead Island released back in 2011, particularly the emotional one, with the slo-mo and the family fighting the zombie horde? Well, when the game was released it didn’t really deliver the same kind of experience we saw in the evocative trailer. However, with the trailers for Dead Island 2 it appears the devs are going for a ‘does exactly what it says on the tin’ kind of vibe.
The first trailer revealed at E3 was a far cry away from Dead Island, and new developer on the title, Yager Development, have taken a more light-hearten approach with the new gameplay trailer too. Set in California, the trailer states – ‘come for the sun, stay for the slaughter’ – as various examples for zombie dispatching are shown off using chainsaws, hammers, shotguns and more. Take a look, or don’t if you’re squeamish at the sight of blood, zombie dismemberment and general gore.
