Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil made a point to congratulate his former Real Madrid teammates on their UEFA Super Cup win.
The Champions League winners beat Europa League victors Sevilla 2-0 in the final in Cardiff, thanks to two goals from Cristiano Ronaldo.
Ozil was still a Real Madrid player last year, and has many friends at the club, including German internationals Sami Khedira and Toni Kroos, who was making his debut.
While Ozil may consider what could have been, had he stayed, he will soon be putting all of his efforts into helping Arsenal win more silverware of their own.
Having won the FA Cup last season, the Gunners are among the contenders to win the Premier League this coming season, and will also hope to be competitive in the Champions League, pending qualification.
Emulating Real by going onto win the Super Cup is a little way off just yet, but if Ozil needs inspiration after his World Cup victory, to go on and achieve with the Gunners - this is a reminder of where they ultimately aspire to be.
How far can Arsenal go in the Champions League this coming season?
