MLS star and USA international DeAndre Yedlin was all smiles when pictured for the first time with a Tottenham Hotspur shirt, having sealed his much-anticipated move from the Seattle Sounders.

USA international DeAndre Yedlin has posed with a Tottenham shirt for the first time since sealing his reported $4 million move from the Seattle Sounders.

Signing a four-year contract at White Hart Lane, the promising right-back is set to stay with the MLS club until next summer, before joining up with Spurs ahead of the 2015-16 season.

‘I first want to thank everyone involved in my development. From my family to youth coaches to the Sounders, I am lucky to have such a strong support system,’ the Seattle-native said on the club’s official website.

‘I’m excited to have the opportunity to play with Spurs in the English Premier League, and I look forward to helping the Sounders win a championship this season.’

One of the top-rated talents in MLS, Yedlin’s career has seen a meteoric rise over the past 18 months since signing a homegrown deal with the Sounders at the start of 2013, going from the college level to a two-time All-Star and World Cup standout after just one full professional season.

Making his international debut in February, the 21-year-old was a surprise inclusion in Jurgen Klinsmann’s 23-man squad for Brazil, given his lack of international experience, but his energetic substitute outings on the right flank proved one of the clear bright spots of the side’s run to the knockout stages.

Earning widespread plaudits in the process, the speedster’s performances saw him linked with the likes of Liverpool, Roma, Inter Milan and Napoli since the end of the tournament, but Tottenham had emerged as the front-runners to seal his signature over the past week.

Now able to remain in MLS to hone his skills and gain valuable first-team minutes, Yedlin will most likely have to compete with Kyle Walker for a spot in the lineup once he arrives at the club but, if he continues to progress at the rate he has done over recent months, then the incumbent starter could have some serious competition.

Is Yedlin a future star at Tottenham?
