Ronaldo Celebrates

Real Madrid eased to a 2-0 win over Spanish rivals Sevilla in the UEFA Super Cup.

As Gareth Bale took part in an emotional homecoming in the colours of Real Madrid, it was main man Cristiano Ronaldo who stole the show in Cardiff on Tuesday.

Madrid strolled to an 2-0 victory over Sevilla in the Welsh capital, with new signings Toni Kroos and James Rodriguez also on show.

Having lost every game of pre-season prior to last night, Madrid looked comfortable with the addition of their main stars, and ramped up the tempo to win their first silverware of the season. Here's how they faired:

Iker Casilas - Not his busiest of nights, a few smart saves at his near post. Still some questions regarding the commanding of his area, but fortunately for him the opposition wasn't strong enough to take advantage. 6/10.

Dani Carvajal - Solid performance. Disciplined and rarely troubled on his side. Looks a comfortable fit in the right back role. 7/10.

Sergio Ramos - Comfortable enough. Still a tendency to get caught high up the pitch, but a trait he is unlikely to change at this point in his career. 6/10.

Pepe - Professional display from the Portuguese defender. Did what was required if him, without the dramatics and play-acting. 7/10.

Fabio Coentrao - Ordinary night for the left-back. Worked hard to try and contribute going forward, but didn't quite happen for him. 6/10.

Toni Kroos - Adapted well to a slightly more holding role than he will have been used to at Bayern. Good work rate, with an excellent range of passing on show. 7/10.

Luke Modric - Like many others, had a quiet evening, but not to say he was off the pace. A few neat touches and dribbles, but his night was summed up by a half-volley that slumped over the crossbar. 6/10.

James Rodriguez- Mixed debut for the young Colombian. No question he's a talent, but his performance optimised someone who hasn't had a full pre-season. Will be a success, but must track back for his team. 6/10.

Gareth Bale - Big night in his hometown for the Welshman. Tried everything and had a few tricks up his sleeve, but not his best display. Sublime delivery for Ronaldo's opening goal was his highlight. 7/10.

Cristiano Ronaldo - The star of the show, an excellent first game back. Converted Bale's cross for his first, and blasted past Beto for his second. All set for another stellar season. 8/10.

Karim Benzema - Another quiet night for one of Madrid's stars. Will improve sharpness with added game time. 6/10.
