Serie A outfit Fiorentina are the latest side to take an interest in Real Madrid star Sami Khedira as speculation over his future mounts.
The two clubs are set to meet tomorrow in a friendly match in Warsaw, Poland, and according to the latest reports from Spain, representatives from each side will sit down and discuss the future of the German international midfielder.
“Fiorentina think they can take take on Khedira for €3.5 million a year, and they know that Madrid are willing to negotiate down, preferring to take the money (around €10 million) instead of letting him go free. The directors coincide with those of Madrid in Warsaw’s Narodowy stadium tomorrow and they will put their price on the table.” Spanish newspaper AS claims.
Khedira, 27, has been heavily linked with a move away from the Spanish capital this summer with Premier League side Arsenal keen admirers.
The Gunners have already splashed the cash this summer, bringing in Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona as well as strengthening the defence with Calum Chambers and Mathieu Debuchy.
One area which still appears weak in comparison, however, is in central midfield and many observers feel the lack of a midfield enforcer will prevent the North Londoners from closing the gap on Chelsea and Manchester City.
Khedira would unquestionably be the ideal man for the job at the Emirates, and he could be available for a bargain price due to his expiring contract and the embarrassment of midfield riches currently available at Carlo Ancelotti’s disposal.
If Arsenal wish to make their move, however, it must be now in light of Fiorentina’s recent interest.
Whilst the Italian outfit can’t provide Champions League football, in Mario Gomez and his girlfriend Carina Wanzung, the Real Madrid man and his partner Lena Gercke have really close friends who could play a pivotal role in convincing the duo to move to Florence.
Should Arsenal now make their move for Sami Khedira?
