PHOTOS: Pitch invader takes Eriksen's free-kick for Tottenham

Christian Eriksen and Soldado Spurs

Christian Eriksen got a surprise today after a fan decided he would take the free-kick against West Ham.

Tottenham Hotspur have defeated London rivals West Ham in their Premier League opener in what was a predictably a very entertaining fixture, full of talking points.

Firstly two red cards were dished out in the game. Kyle Naughton was harshly sent off by Chris Foy for a handball in the area, which led to a missed penalty from Mark Noble. West Ham levelled things up in the second half when James Collins hauled down Emmanuel Adebayor and received a second bookable offence.

Then Eric Dier, on his debut, scored the coolest of goals in stoppage time to take the three points from Upton Park.

But none of these moments were the real highlight of the game. That award would have to go too the fan who decided he was the best person for the job when Tottenham had a free-kick in a shooting position.

Every football fan is usually a failed footballer, who dreams of one day scoring at this ground or that - but this guy was seriously close.

He charged onto the turf, sprinting away from the chasing stewards who failed to keep up with the man. Then, when he arrived at the ball that had carefully been placed by Eriksen, he punted it with his left foot forcing West Ham stopper Adrian into a save, of sorts. Then Eriksen stepped up, and blazed it over the bar (sign him up Poch).

Here are some of the pictures of the moment that stands out from this game.
