Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski was delighted with Gornik Zabrze’s victory on Friday that saw them go to the top of the Ekstraklasa.

The Ekstraklasa may not be one of the most popular domestic leagues in the world, but the Polish first division certainly excited Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski on Friday.

Gornik Zabrze defeated Korona Kielce 3-0 away from home at the Stadion Miejski Kielce to go a point clear at the top of the league table.

The victory seemed to make Germany international Podolski delighted, as the 29-year-old former Bayern Munich star took to social networking site Twitter to revel in their win.

As things stand, Robert Warzycha’s Zabrze side, who finished sixth last season, are currently the league leaders with 11 points from five matches, while Legia Warszawa are a point behind in second.

Bełchatow are also on 10 points and are third in the standings, but they have a game in hand on the top two.

Podolski will hope that Arsenal can make as impressive a start as the Polish outfit have to their 2014-15 Premier League campaign.

The Gunners will head into the season as one of the favourites to win the title and will open their campaign with a clash against Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
