This season's Premier League is expected to be the most competitive in the prestigious trophies 23-year history, but the burning question over who will be the ones holding the trophy above their head come May is still largely up for debate.

Manchester United, who have invested in their squad this summer and enjoyed a good pre-season, are expected to gatecrash last season's top four and ultimately make it a top five with all of them looking at the same goal this season - to win the Premier League title.

The most popular bet for the title and seemingly favourites after heavy financial backing, Chelsea, will unquestionably be the biggest threat and will be the side that the other four will take most serious for the upcoming season, but as it stands there is not much difference between the sides at all.

Liverpool, who lost Suarez to Barcelona, have come under scrutiny over their chances but as last season showed, on their day, they are as good as anybody in the league. However, it is arguable to whether they can be as strong next season, and how the resurgence of Manchester United under Louis van Gaal could affect, not just their title chances, but their chances of a top four finish.

Arsenal have strengthened their midfield further, without any doubt, but their front line ultimately hasn't been changed much which will bring their credentials into doubt. Manchester City, who have chosen to add to their Premier League winning squad sensibly, will pose one of the more potent threats this season but will ultimately face stronger competition than they did last and will have to do more to enjoy the same outcome.

Although it is Chelsea that people have put their money on, the other four sides won't pay much attention as they know that next season is likely to come down to who is the most professional, who can stay the fittest and who can stay consistent over the 38-game season.

It has the makings of what could be the best Premier League in the competition's history.
