Spurs transfer news: Midfielder move ruled out; striker tipped for Tottenham

White Hart Lane

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Tottenham Hotspur

Reported Tottenham Hotspur target Morgan Schneiderlin has accepted he will remain at Southampton this season according to Ronald Koeman.

The Southampton Daily Echo has followed up on comments from the new Saints manager, who said, “It is difficult, but he has to accept and he finally accepts.”

The French international was tipped to follow Mauricio Pochettino to White Hart Lane, but it seems his future – at least in the short-term – is at St Mary’s.

In other news, the Times reports that Tottenham are readying a move for Roma striker Mattia Destro.

The front-man has been linked with Spurs for some time. But the latest reports suggest the Serie A side have accepted he may leave this summer, with Roma’s sporting director Walter Sabatini allegedly flying to London to potentially finalise a deal.

Despite the Destro links, Sabatini is also said to be in the capital to discuss Mehdi Benatia’s possible £30million switch to Chelsea.

Do you think Destro is the ideal front-man for Tottenham?
