Big announcement imminent from Manchester United target Rojo

Marcos Rojo playing for Argentina

Marcos Rojo is set to speak to Sporting TV this evening at 21:30.

Manchester United have been linked with a heap of players this summer, with the likes of Arturo Vidal, William Carvalho and Mehdi Benatia currently doing the rounds.

Another name has been Marcos Rojo, the attacking full-back from Argentina who had a good World Cup in Brazil this summer.

The Sporting Lisbon star, who has also been linked with Southampton and Liverpool in the past, has been heavily linked in the past week - in what has become a transfer saga in the Portuguese capital.

It is a saga which has seen Rojo punished by the club for trying to force a move through the press. It has also seen Sporting become involved with a bitter dispute with sports management company Doyen - who own a 75 per cent share in the players registration rights - legal action has even been threatened.

Needless to say it has been a week of claim and counter-claim with serious doubts over whether Rojo will now leave the club.

Well by 21:30 this evening we should know the answer to that question. Because it is being widely reported the player will make an announcement on Sporting TV this evening.

The rumour is that the interview will be for three potential reasons.

The first potential option has been the possibility of Rojo announcing his desire to force a move to Manchester United.

The second scenario is an apparent willingness to apologise to Sporting fans for his behaviour in trying to engineer an exit.

The third option, is both of the above.

Manchester United are reportedly willing to pay £16 million for the Argentine who could help their current defensive woes.

Will Rojo force a United switch?
