Stats: How did Arsenal's new signings fare against Crystal Palace?

Alexis Sanchez Chile

Alexis Sanchez, Calum Chambers and Mathieu Debuchy had great games as the Gunners beat Crystal Palace.

Arsenal's Premier League campaign started in dramatic fashion on Saturday with a last-gasp 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium.

It was a familiar face that got the winner for the Gunners as Aaron Ramsey fired home from close range in the dying seconds, but the three new arrivals who made their league debuts all impressed.

The Gunners' £32 million man came into Saturday's game with huge expectations and looked like he was trying to impress early on. He brought attacking flair and direct movement to the side, leading the team with 10 attempted dribbles and beating his man three times. His excellent delivery from a free kick set up Laurent Koscielny's equaliser at the end of the first half.

Towards the end of the game, Sanchez dropped deeper to receive the ball as the Gunners struggled to break through the Palace defence - this accounts for his 101 touches. The Chilean looked frustrated and tired as the game drew to a conclusion, but overall Arsenal fans will be excited by the promise he showed in the opening contest.

Calum Chambers

Calum Chambers 90 112 93.48 4 4 2 2 2 8

Chambers belied his lack of experience in the centre of defence with an assured performance similar to the one he put in in the Community Shield. His 112 touches and 93.48% pass accuracy saw him ranked third among Arsenal players who played 90 minutes in both categories.

Defensively Chambers was unremarkable but solid. He won all four of the tackles he contested and made eight clearances. With Arsenal on the attack for the majority of the game, Chambers's stats are good for a centre-half; he also outshone defensive partner Koscielny at the back.

Debuchy has a tough job on his hands this season in filling Bacary Sagna's shoes at right-back, but he put in a good impersonation of his fellow Frenchman against Palace. The 29-year-old led the side in clearances with nine and held his own in the air, winning five of his eight duels.

Debuchy's biggest contribution, however, came in the form of a shot on target. He found himself in front of goal in the final moments of injury time, and when his strike was parried by the Palace keeper, Ramsey was there to put away the rebound.
